Imperial is a theme with no specific focus. It’s not sure if it wants to be a personal blog, or house an online magazine. It’s not even sure if it’s black or white, for that matter!
Main Features
- WordPress menu for the main navigation.
- Standard featured images (post thumbnails), with fall-back custom field method for images.
- Support for custom backgrounds.
- Custom built reviews module allows you to easily add any type of review (product, service, etc.) to a post.
- 2 full colour schemes – dark and light.
- User specified “accent” colour can be chosen from a colour picker in WP-Admin for easy customization.
- Custom built theme settings panel within WP-Admin that allows you to customize the theme without editing any templates.
- Flexible logo space allows images up to 900px wide and any height. Image path and dimensions are entered in WP-Admin.
- Easily link to social networks you take part in, with support for 37 of the most popular sites.
- Both sidebars are widgetized.
- Custom widgets for the 3 main ad spots (4 125×125 buttons, 300×250 bigbox, 160×600 skyscraper). 728×90 leaderboard and 468×60 banner also supported.
- Super lean markup and CSS, makes advanced customization a pleasure.
- Tested on Windows and Mac. Looks great in all modern browsers. Some details are toned down for older versions of IE, but nothing is broken.
- Support for Twitter Tools, FlickrRSS, WP-PageNavi, and Subscribe to Comments plugins out of the box.
- Original PSD included!

Support & Feature Requests
First – read the help documentation that came bundled with the theme. It is also available on the theme’s live preview site.
Please send me a direct message via ThemeForest if you’re having trouble with your theme, and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. Please be patient, as I work freelance full time and do not have dedicated time for theme support. I will not answer support requests left as comments here.
Also, it would be a good idea to a read through my Terms of Support document, which outlines the extent of support I offer, and information regarding updates, warranty, and compatibility.
Oh man! still no fullwith? gaming,
You know, I remembered right after it was approved. Figures. I’ll get on it, and will release another update this week with the full-width template.jquery slider,
Thanks man. I am very happy to see that you are willing to put time updating this theme. This is by far the best review theme around and I LOVE IT . I don’t want to change it, ever… but I do buy other themes from you for support. Please don’t let the mighty “Imperial” theme die. www.MovieFloss.comlight,
Imperial is still selling, so I’ll continue to put time into it. It’s also my highest rated theme, so it wouldn’t make sense to abandon it.
I do plan on replacing it with a successor at some point down the road. I’d love to consult with you, and other long-time users of Imperial to make sure I get it right.magazine,
For sure. I would love to help… Just let me know.personal blog,

Any issues upgrading to 3.5?thumbnails,
Nope, all clear!tight,
After update, the site freezes when posting a new post (most of the times) but the big issue is when posting a comment, It always freezes. I don’t know if anyone is experiencing this issue.video game,
This doesn’t sound like a theme related issue.videogame,
Are the “reviews” on this theme a type of post or they more of a comment on an existing post?
I was hoping that they are simply a category or type of post so I could use them to seperate my product reviews from my normal blog posts.
Reviews use custom fields in regular posts. No custom post type. You could use categories to distinguish between regular posts and review posts.
Hey Matt, any more thought on building a predecessor to the Imperial site? I am itching to have a new look.
I’ve done quite a bit of planning, but haven’t moved forward on it just yet. Not sure when I will, to be honest. Theme development is a huge undertaking these days, and I’m booked for months down the road with freelance work.
Totally understand. I was just thinking maybe just adding BudyPress to the site to give it new life. I would pay a few bucks for the CSS style sheet to make it work with Imperial.
Hi Matt,
Recently I have used this theme again, and thanks it has updated. But where is the help document that said can be linked from wp-admin?I found it located in /wp-content/themes/imperial/help/ but I remember it was a link in the admin panel.
The link can be accessed from Appearance -> Settings in WP-Admin. Just below the header on the options panel.
opps I found it named “Help Documentation”, sorry for the trouble
Hi Matt,I got 2 questions, the one my “Home” link is stay in linking the permalink http://3drealizers.com/home/But I want it shows in recent posts. I know this is not a bug, but I just can’t solve it, please help. The other one is the feature post image, it seems a bug if visit it from the new iPad(safari), it shows a copy in the rss social widget bg.
For the home link, you simply need to edit the link itself in the Menus section of WP-Admin.
Not sure what you mean about the iPad bug. I just checked on mine and am not seeing out of whack. Can you take a screenshot so I can see what you’re seeing?
Hi Matt, I have sent you a mail, with more description about the iPad issue, please have it a look, there is an image.
And thanks, now I have the home link worked right.
is the theme compatible with wp 3.6?
Yes it is. The demo site is running 3.6.
Hi, I bought this theme a while back and currently use it on my site, but I was wondering if there was a way to make it Responsive?
Because my site is a iOS and Android site, so I feel that it needs to be responsive.
Unfortunately, it would take a significant amount of effort to make Imperial responsive. I would suggest using a plugin to provide an optimized experience for mobile users.
